Mervyn’s practice encompasses a wide range of areas including Banking, Commercial, Company, Construction and Land disputes. He is available to accept instructions on all areas within the firm’s practice.
Mervyn has assisted the partners of the firm in shareholders’ disputes involving litigation and advisory work pre-empting litigation. He has also acted as junior counsel with Mr. Gomez in land and construction disputes, having successfully defended the developer of a popular lifestyle district in the heart of Kuala Lumpur against a RM10 million adjudication claim brought by its contractor, and represented a highway developer in a dispute involving the acquisition of land.
He acted as junior counsel in a suit brought by residents of a luxury condominium against a property developer in respect of their statutory right to common property, and a suit for fraudulent misrepresentation brought by a biofuel manufacturer against a public authority. He is also assisting Mr. Nethi in a RM30 million suit against the perpetrators of a fraudulent investment scheme brought by a Malaysian Regulator on behalf of investors.
Prior to joining the firm as an associate, he assisted in successfully resisting an injunction against the holding of an internationally promoted marathon organized by a government tourism body and the disbursement of related funds, and advising a bank-client in a multi-hundred million ringgit redemption of lands in the Iskandar region in the state of Johor.

Mervyn pupiled with the firm after he was awarded the Stanley Peddie Book Prize for his academic performance at the undergraduate level. He is particularly interested in Competition / Antitrust related disputes, having obtained the Most Outstanding Student award for his Masters on the subject from the University of Glasgow. Mervyn’s article which critically examined a landmark decision by the Competition Appeal Tribunal has also been published in the Malayan Law Journal, and was subsequently included in the Malayan Law Journal’s 85th Anniversary Commemorative Issue as representative of the contribution by young lawyers to the journal.
Mervyn also provides presentations on Competition / Antitrust law and its regulatory developments in Malaysia to local corporations and their officers.
